Personal History

What makes me unique?  Others need multiple sports to stay interested....I only need my quad and cross-country tracks 100% of the time.  My name is Austin.  I am 14 years old and live in the Mid-Michigan area.  Michigan is a wonderful place to enjoy ATV's whether it be motocross (Red Bud), cross-country, duning (Silverlake), or trail riding (Manistee National Forest).  I enjoy all forms of riding, however, my love is cross-country racing.  I began racing at the age of 13...that's when our local series allows youth to race.  My parents wanted me to race in our local division for a year before racing at a national level.  I took second in the youth division of our local championship series my first year racing.

I learned many valuable riding and tuning tips my first year out and look forward to learning many more.  Thankfully, my family supports me completely.  Without them I could not compete.  I appreciate the time, effort and money they put forth to allow me to pursue my dream of racing.

I am currently an eighth grade student.  I am an honor-roll student with a GPA of 3.93.  When my school allows, I plan to attend our local career technical center for either welding, small engines or drafting.  As well as gaining hands-on techincal knowledge for later use, I feel this experience would be helpful in maintaining my race quad.

I also enjoy snowmobiling in the winter, hunting and fishing.

Riding Goals

My 2011 goals are to begin competing at a national level (GNCC) in the school boy novice class and to take the championship in our local series.  My goal for my first year at national level is to complete each race in its entirety and place in the top ten in my class.  I am looking for sponsors to partner with for the 2011 race season to assist me in reaching my goals.  In return for your company's sponsorship, you can expect me to promote your product professionally to my fullest extent. This will include promotion through use while racing, training and "just riding for fun". Further product promotion would be in on-line atv related forums as well as word-of-mouth.

I plan to add to my current riding skills by practicing on a weekly basis.  I am tentatively planning on attending the GNCC University in 2011 to broaden my skills base.  In the winter, I utilize our indoor exercise equipment and physical education in school to maintain my health and weight.

I want to continue to promote our sport.  I have several friends that are interested in racing and I will assist and encourage them to try competitive atv riding....there is much room for growth in the ATV cross-country series.

I plan to continue to do much of the bolt-on component maintenance, oil and air filter changes and race preparation on my machine.  My family and friends assist, however, I feel doing it myself helps me to understand how each component works and how to recognize when my machine is not running at its peak performance.

Finally and mostly, my intent is to love what I am doing and have fun doing it!

Competitive Highlights

My greatest accomplishment for 2010 is competing in the OMA Wolverine XC race in the "C" adult class against 450's and finishing second.  I was awarded local points also for this race but was allowed to run the adult class because a schoolboy class was not offered.  I have been riding recreationally since four years of age, however, this was my first year in competitive racing.  I placed second in our local championship series.

I look forward to the 2011 race season and competing at both the local and national levels.
