Personal History

My name is Benjamin DeRon Meeks. I am 24 years old. I go by my middle name, DeRon. It was originated from my Grandpa's name Dee and my Fathers name Ronnie. My dad was a factory suzuki motocross rider in the early 80's. I would say that is where my love for the sport came from. I raced motocross bikes in my early years before my parent's divorce, which caused me to get out of racing. I finished out high school and attended college to lead me to where I am now, an employee at Tennessee Rand as a Robot Technician. I have now picked up the sport of ATV Racing where everything has fell back naturally into its place. Throughout the week I travel with my job, but on weekends I always find myself at any track I can find to race.

Riding Goals

My goal for the rest of this year is to finish out my last three races with podium accomplishments. Throughout the off season I plan to train harder and pick up more sponsors to run the Southern Stars MX Tour. I want to have consistent finishes throughout the tour to come away with the championship at the end of 2014.

Competitive Highlights

My most recent highlight was my quad stalling out on me as I was exiting the starting gates. Finally after my quad decided to re-fire, I was already 20 seconds delayed. At that moment I knew I was going to have to give it all I had in order to catch up with the leader and that is exactly what I did. After all was done, I finished the moto in second place.
