Personal History

My name is Tanner Counsil.  I am currently 7 years old and will be 8 later this year.  I will be in 2nd grade this coming school year.  I can’t wait to get back to school and see all my friends.  We are running in the GLMX series for Michigan, which consists of 5 semi-local tracks.  My dad got me my first quad when I was 3 and I have been hooked ever since.  I mostly rode for fun until last year when I wanted to ride on a motocross track.  My parents took me to Log Road Motocross in Bronson and let me ride.  I was hooked even more.  I asked my parents if there was anyway I could run for points the following year like all the other kids were doing. My dad said we will see.  My parents surprised me with my DRR early this spring.  My dad and I worked on it and added my own touches to make it the way I wanted.  My dad also bought a quad so he could help me train and practice to get better.  I just love riding and the time that I get to spend with my family.

Riding Goals

I started this year with the goal to do good in school so I didn’t have to miss any riding while school was still in session. This was a rule my parents made and I had to follow or no riding. This was accomplished because I have only missed one race this season, but that’s because I was sick.  My future goals for the rest of this year and next year is to become better on jumping and corners.  Also I told my parents that I would like to run in our state championship series next year as well as In a few national events.  I would also like to get a few of my friends into racing so we can spend some more time together in the summer when there is no school.

Competitive Highlights

One of the best highlights this year was attending Eleven18 powersports mini quad trading camp.  I got to ride with some of the Root River Racing team.  I got to work on cornering with RRR teammate Ariah Richardson.  She helped me a lot.  I also got to spend some time on jumping jumps. I even cleared a 35 foot double there. My biggest highlight is the way this years championship points standings are looking for me.  I am currently in first with a big lead going into the second half of the season.  I know I still have to work hard and keep practicing so I can get even better.
