Personal History

I am a 16 year old girl and this is my second year to race quads. Last year was my first year to race, and I just raced against girls(not much competition). Half way through the year, I began winning every race; which included the long course race (1 1/2 hours) and the short course race for ladies right after the long course race (30 minutes) in the OCCRA racing series. Because it had been my first year and I had missed a few races due to the races being in Oklahoma and me living in Texas (at the time), I finished 2nd overall in the womens long course and I wasn't able to place in the womens short course from too many races missed.

At the beginning of my second year of racing, I desided to start racing against guys in the Amature class, three lines behind the pros. A couple races into the series in OCCRA, my Honda 400ex blew up, and because I had started racing TORN and gotten in tight with the owner who was sponcered by the local KTM shop, we desided to go ahead and buy a brand new KTM 450xc 2008. My Honda had come to me sceond hand, but on the KTM, I basically built it. I put white plastics, scotts sterring stablizer, FMF pipe, KTM nerfs, a carbon fiber hood, and many more parts on that quad. We also put Flex bars, hand guards, Razr 2's and GBC rex tires, lime green hiper wheels, lime green graphics (whigh looked sweet with the stock black frame), lime green Houser nerfs (the KTM nerfs broke..), lime green Houser grab bar, PRM a-arm skids on my quad on into my racing year. I have begun getting holeshot awards and finishing top 3 in every OKlahoma race that I have raced this year.

Before racing I ws a very active member in 4H and FFA, showing lambs, goats, and pigs in stock shows. I also have played select and highschool level softball for 5 years. I had been in percussion at school for 4 years, and was on the highschool drumbline as snare; which, I say, lead us to the state marching contest and won us 15th overall in the state. I am also a very active person in my church, and believe that I couldn't have done anything with the love of my Savior and God. My mom, sister, and I moved to mom's hometown of Mountain View, Oklahoma this past summer due to my parents divorce. Mom's side of the family, which is my racing family, has always lived here. I race along side my cousin Kallen, who races pro, my cousin Kristen's husband Jay, who races Expert, and my little cousin Kyeler, who races minis. I have alot of support from my family, who is full of mechanics. They have taught me everything I know, so now I'm the one who does the maintenance on my quad.

Riding Goals

I've gone from racing against women to racing guys in amature, and I plan to race pro with my cousin Kallen Frank and my boyfriend Jake Hornaday someday. I'm planning on moving up to intermediate next year so that I can get closer to my goal of racing pro after i graduate highschool. I now race almost every weekend, rather it's a race in Texas, Oklahoma, or even Iowa. I love to race because its just you on the track and no one can yell at you or tell you that you suck other than yourself. Racing helped me get through my parents divorce in that I got time to just think and be to myself without getting yelled at or having to choose who's side to take. Racing is still my escape as well as something that I have been really good at. Nothing beats the look on a guys face when a girl has beat him! That's my ultimate goal: to show the guys what a mere girl can do!

Competitive Highlights

I've been finishing top 3 in all my races since summer break, which is when I practised almost every. I also rode at the dunes alot and raced in Iowa over the summer, too. I've gotten atleast 6 holeshot awards this past year. I even raced an area cross race in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and finished 2nd and even out jumped all the guys. Now guys wont let me pass them on the tracl because they can't stand the thought of being beat by a girl. My latest rockin' victory was done at the last OCCRA race, which was October 15th. I had got in a tight spot and fell from 1st place to 3rd with only half a mile left of track. I caught 2nd place and ended up passing him on the last corner coming out of the trees and going into the scoring shoot. That 2nd place finish enabled me to finish in 3rd overall in the amature class for the year. I plan to have many more great finishes like that throughtout my years of racing.
